June 1, 2013  7th Annual SWINE Festival – Ankeny, Iowa
Two of Iowa’s best tastes come together in a casual, yet refined event designed to benefit the viticulture and enology program at Des Moines Area Community College.  The 7th Annual Swine Festival will feature 15 of central Iowa’s finest chefs and 15 Iowa wineries. Chefs will prepare samples of gourmet pork offerings while wineries will pour samples and offer wine for sale.

June 1, 2013  Manchester Annual Rhubarb Fest – Manchester, Iowa
Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the food, festival, and music. Local artists & craftsmen, bike and running races, rhubarb contests, wine tasting, rhubarb store, and food stand featuring rhubarb themed foods. (also: )

June 5-7, 2013  World Pork Expo 2013 – Des Moines, Iowa
World Pork Expo is the trade show for the pork industry worldwide. It’s the perfect showcase for companies who wish to build valuable relationships with the pork producers who use their products.

June 7-9, 2013  Strawberry Days 2013 – Strawberry Point, Iowa
Some of our events include parades, Kiss the Pig contest, tractor pull, street dance, talent show, and free strawberries and ice cream.

June 8-10, 2013  Farmington Strawberry Festival – Farmington, Iowa
30th Annual.  Sponsored by the Farmington Arts Council, the festival offers free strawberries and ice cream, a car show, strawberry cooking contest, talent show and more!

June 11-12, 2013  Fredericksburg’s Dairy Days – Fredericksburg, Iowa
‘Cruising Through The Milky Way!’ Dairy breakfast, midway, ice cream making contest, milking contest, parade, music and fireworks.

June 12-15, 2013  Ice Cream Days – Le Mars, Iowa
It’s all about the Ice Cream! Celebrate with ice cream treats, picnics, parades and more in La Mars, Ice Cream Capital of the World.

June 19-20, 2013  Farm Progress Hay Expo 2013 – Waukon, Iowa
The two-day hay extravaganza will showcase mowing, conditioning, baling, hay handling and silage demonstrations on alfalfa. Visitors will be able to compare the various equipment brands operating side by side under actual field conditions.

June 21-22, 2013  15th Annual Iowa State BBQ Championship – Marshalltown, Iowa
Sponsored by the Iowa Barbeque Society. BBQ samples and a variety of entertainment.

June 22, 2013  Lazy River Beer & Wine Festival – Marquette, Iowa
Bring your lawn chair and prepare for a day of relaxation and fun with local Iowa beer and wine, live music and food vendors.

June 26-27, 2013  IDEAg Interconnectivity Conference – Altoona, Iowa
The 2nd Annual IDEAg Interconnectivity Conference will bring together the whole interconnected agriculture sector for two days of cutting edge education, exhibits and networking. The most innovative crop and animal agriculture producers will gather with top technology and equipment suppliers to discuss the key issues in our connected agricultural future.

June 27-30, 2013  Gladbrook Corn Carnival – Gladbrook, Iowa
This annual festival will include fireworks, a corn eating contest, music, classic car cruise, carnival, and crowning of the Corn Cob Queen.

June 29, 2013  Beer & Brats Festival – Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Millstream Brewing Company. Join us for our annual Beer and Brat Festival. What goes better in a German village than brats & beer so we are teaming up with the Amana Smokehouse & Meat Market to bring out some of the best available. Mini brats of several different flavors will be unveiled. We’ll pair each mini brat up with a mini Millstream beer for you to have a true beer/food pairing German style. Beer & Brat games will be going on so be ready to participate and have fun. Live music

July Festivals and Events in Iowa

JULY 4, 2013 – There are so many events on this day that they are too numerous to list. Virtually every community in the U.S. has a 4th of July celebration.

July 12-14, 2013  Bicycle, Blues & BBQ Festival – Clear Lake, Iowa
Eat a helping (or two!) of barbecue and enjoy some soul-revivin’ blues with top blues acts. Participate in several different bike rides including a charity fun ride, a criterium through the streets of Clear Lake or a road race through scenic Iowa countryside.

July 17-21, 2013  Elkader Sweet Corn Days – Elkader , Iowa
Little Miss Sweet Corn & Little Mr. Cornhusker, Ice Cream Social, Golf & Softball Tournaments, Donut Hole Eating Contest, Parade, Car Cruise, Live Music, and Free Sweet Corn!

July 18-20, 2013  Wayne County Annual Watermelon Days – Humeston, Iowa
A July event where free watermelon is offered along with entertainment, tractor pull, dance and much more!

July 19-20, 2013  BBQ’Loo and Blues Too! – Waterloo, Iowa
Come join us for great food, great music, and great fun in Lincoln Park in downtown Waterloo. There will be BBQ for sale Friday night and all day Saturday and a chili contest Friday night from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. Come and vote for your favorite chili competitor. Three great blues bands. There will be a celebrity rib eating contest at 5:15 pm Saturday in front of the stage. Also, bring the kids for Kids Korner Friday 5:30 to 9:00 pm and Saturday Noon to 4:00 pm. Children ages 6 to 15 can also compete in a Kids-Q barbeque contest on Friday at 5:30 pm.

July 20, 2013  Watermelon Day 2013 – Stanhope, Iowa
If Stanhope had its own national holiday, it would be Watermelon Day. Started in 1958, thousands now come from all over annually for the parade, carnival rides and games, ball games, free entertainment, and all the free watermelon you can eat!

July 26-27, 2013  Up In Smoke BBQ Bash – Mason City, Iowa
The 10th annual North Iowa BBQ Championship will offer great BBQ, big crowds, and live music, with cooking demonstrations, grilling and barbecuing tips, samples, really great energy, and fun!

August Festivals and Events in Iowa

August 8-18, 2013  Iowa State Fair – Des Moines, Iowa
Annually attracting more than a million people, the Iowa State Fair is a salute to the state’s best in agriculture, industry, entertainment and achievement. One of the oldest and largest agricultural and industrial expositions in the country, it was the inspiration for the original novel “State Fair” by Iowan Phil Stong, three motion pictures, and Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Broadway musical. Attendance: 1,000,000.

November Festivals and Events in Iowa

November 1-3, 2013  National Farm Toy Show – Dyersville, Iowa
National Farm Toy Museum. Events include collectors’ dinner, sanctioned micro-mini pull, auction, Mercy Hospital bazaar and pedal pull for kids. Attendance: 15,000.

November 28, 2013  Thanksgiving Day – Nationwide
There are so many events on Thanksgiving Day they are to numerous to list.  (4th Thursday in November).
