2014 was a turning point for the Destination Cuisine. Our journey started with the launch of My Cuisine Order, an online ordering platform assisting restaurants with increasing profits and exceptional customer service to their clients. Many restaurants websites were launched with a heavy emphasis on the mobile experience and user experience. Our travels took us to over 28 cities, two countries, attendance at 3 major Food shows including the NRA (National Restaurant Association) show in Chicago, our first published recipes and dining articles in October in the Venice Gondolier “Paradise Living” to the crescendo and unexpected participation of competing in the World Food Championships in Las Vegas in November. Whew!
I assisted a first time competitor and we not only won the Sandwich category and she won $10,000, but we went on to compete for the $100,000 grand prize. Talk about a rush. Kelli Fairchild Cochran is now the reigning World Champion in the Sandwich category. The final round also had major assistance from well known Texas Chef, Nancy Manlove, who, at the age of 60, started lessons at a culinary school along with Kelli’s husband, Matthew Cochran. Kelli continues to make amazing dishes and prepares to defend her title in this year’s competition. The bacon category ultimately won the grand prize in Vegas to take home the $100,000. It was the experience of a lifetime.
