Homemade Garlic Croutons

You may never have store bought croutons again when you find out how easy they are to make at home. I had a tough time fending off my sons as they wanted to eat them all right out of the oven. We barely had enough left for dinner.

Homemade Garlic Croutons

Rating: 51

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 25 minutes

You can add different herbs and spices according to your tastes. Croutons are great toppers for salads and soups. Experiment. I had a hard time keeping enough for dinner as my boys would start eating them as soon as they came out of the oven.

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 3 (3/4 inch thick) slices French bread, cut into cubes

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a large saute pan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in garlic; cook and stir for 1 minute.
  3. Add bread cubes, and toss to coat. Spread on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 15 minutes, or until crisp and dry. Check frequently to prevent burning. Cool.
