Touchstone Inn Taos New Mexico
The Touchstone Inn in downtown Taos, New Mexico brings to life the essence, beauty and tranquility of the southwest. From the moment I spoke to this dynamic duo Brad and Amber, I knew staying there would far exceed my very discerning tastes. I typically seek out experiences, not just nice places to stay. This beautiful and rustic southwest inn hits it out of the park in terms of comfort, hospitality and cuisine.
It is conveniently located just north of the Plaza but far enough off the main road to feel like you have reached a true “peaceful getaway”. Brad and Amber both are culinary professionals, so, as a foodie, I was delighted that the gourmet breakfast was both passionately prepared, delicious and beautiful in presentation. Waking to the aroma of their “sweet and savory” breakfast was the perfect start to a great day of exploration in the area. For those with a sweet tooth, the granny smith apple pancake was over the top smothered with fresh whipped cream and real maple syrup. Brad is more than happy to share some his chef secrets as well. The tomato and basil soufflé, was outstanding in a light raspberry sauce that was both unexpected and a perfect accompaniment. Sitting in the breakfast gallery, mostly filled with Amber’s Mothers’ accomplished artwork, and overlooking the back of the property and Pueblo lands, you get a sense that the breakfast you are about to enjoy will be lovingly prepared by two of the nicest people you will ever meet. I can’t say enough great things about the hosts as their knowledge of the area, culinary expertise and friendly service will make you feel right at home. You don’t find this combination very often.
From the moment you enter the property there is a feeling of tranquility. As second generation owners of Touchstone Inn, there is great attention to detail and impeccable service. Brad ensures even before the arrival that all of your needs are met reviewing dietary restrictions to ensure they prepare for any individual needs you have. The inn was very quaint and the room was cozy and had a great view of Taos Mountain. The property backs up to the peaceful ambiance of the Pueblo lands. The room included all the comforts of home including a fireplace, refrigerator, wine glasses and opener, jacuzzi tub and very comfortable beds. I cannot say enough great things about Touchstone Inn. We can’t wait to return during the winter months.
