May 25-27, 2013 Mystic Seaport Lobster Days – Mystic, Connecticut
Lobsters in the rough are served by the Rotary Club of Mystic. Lobster platters are served picnic-style under Mystic Seaport’s open-air Boat Shed where diners can watch boats cruising on the Mystic River and enjoy music of the sea.

June 6-9, 2013 Blast From the Bayou Cajun Zydeco Festival 2013 – Preston, CT
Four days of great music with Cajun cuisine, music workshops, and dance workshops with instruction on the Cajun 2 Step, Cajun Jitterbug, and Basic Zydeco from expert dance instructors and plenty of room to dance to the authentic Louisiana bands. The 2012 line-up will feature a terrific mix of Cajun & Zydeco dance bands. Six bands will be making the migration north from the southern bayous, with additional regional performers from throughout the Northeast.
June 7, 2013 A Tour of Scotland: Majestic Single Malt Scotch Whiskey – Norwalk, Connecticut
Journey through Scotland and taste four distinctly different Malt Whiskies. We’ll be tasting Dalwhinnie, Oban, Talisker and Lagavulin and comparing the regions and their taste profiles.
June 8-10, 2013 Rhubarb Festival – Sherman, Connecticut

June 9-10, 2013 Food Festival 2013 at Olde Mistick Village – Mystic, Connecticut
Local restaurants from the Connecticut and Rhode Island shoreline will be offering all kinds of ethnic cuisine for tasting and purchase. Food from Beachside Catering, Bestemors, Chet’s Italian Ice, Gourmet Galley Catering, Harp and Dragon, Johnny’s Peking Tokyo, Meriano’s Bake Shoppe, Munchie Food Truck, The Pita Spot, Pizza Grille, Portuguese Fisherman, Rice Box, A Taste Of India, and Homeport! The event will feature cooking demonstrations as well as exceptional live entertainment from around the world.

Every year our friend William Miller at Harry’s Wine & Liquor Market joins Barcelona Wine Director Gretchen Thomas for a wine dinner on the patio, always our biggest wine event of the year. As our debut patio wine dinner of the warm seasons, we need no excuse to just have some great Spanish wines paired with Executive Chef Helton Da Silva’sfood prepared on our outdoor grill. Fresh vegetables and herbs from our garden, chilled wines, roasting pig…what else could you want on a beautiful Sunday afternoon!
June 29, 2013 Yoga and Wine Tasting – Westport, Connecticut
Bottlerocket Wine & Spirit and Maggie Converse of Pop Up Yoga are teaming up to bring fun and flavor to Westport this summer. Converse will lead a one-hour open level yoga class at Bottlerocket every Saturday in June 4:30 to 5:30. Participants will then enjoy a casual tasting of summer wines and craft beer. Individual classes are $25, and a 4-class package for $85.
Participants should wear comfortable clothes in which they can move and bring their own yoga mat. The open level, alignment-based class is suitable for beginners as well as more experienced yoga practitioners. You can even feel free to bring your dog!

July 13, 2013 Wine Class (West Hartford)- Catalunya – West Hartford, Connecticut
Gain in depth knowledge of the gastronomy, terroir, varietals and wine-making styles of Cataluña, Spain. This region is probably most famous for being home to the great city of Barcelona, but it is also land of Garnacha, as well as some of the most diverse, terroir-driven wines produced in Spain. Forever a crossroads between Spain and France, Cataluña houses more “Denominations of Origin” than any other Spanish community, and produces a huge array of white, rose, sparkling and red wines. One thing is for sure – Cataluña is in no shortage of talented winemakers and vine growers. Some of Spain’s most famous (and most expensive) wines hail from this area. This class will explore the ins and outs of this region with a tasting of some of Barcelona Restaurant’s favorite Catalan wines.
The style of these wine courses is designed for the beginner looking to become a professional, or an enthusiast looking to gain more knowledge and wine tasting experience. No one is born with the ability to decipher particular aromas and flavors in wine – it can only come with lots of practice, and students of these wine courses will gain great training in palate development. We discuss topics beyond the typical “abc’s,” often focusing on how to describe and understand unfamiliar wines and regions. Students of the wine class will gain experience in wine terminology, wine tasting and evaluation, wine-making techniques and styles, regions of the world, effects of climate and weather on vineyards, and over-all , interesting facts and knowledge about the wines of the world.

September 26-29, 2013 94th Annual Durham Fair
Connecticut’s largest agricultural fair. Come visit the Durham Fair and you’ll see what a real fair is all about. Live entertainment, rides and games on the Midway, first-class animal competitions and discovery events on the Corn Stalk Stage. Along with a trove of crafts, exhibits, shopping and fun food. Yum! The Durham Fair is easy to reach yet hard to leave. We know you will have a great time! The Durham Fair is owned and operated by the Durham Agricultural Fair Association, Inc., and is a private, not-for-profit corporation. The Durham Fair is the largest fair in North America managed entirely by unpaid volunteers. Attendance: 200,000.
October Festivals and Events in Connecticut
October 12-14, 2013 Mystic Seaport Chowder Days
Enjoy a hot bowl of chowder on a cool fall day during Chowder Days at Mystic Seaport. Coastal Gourmet’s menu is sure to satisfy all appetites and will feature numerous selections of chowders, bisques, stews and gumbos to select from, as well as clam fritters, pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, hamburgers and fish tacos. Indulge in seasonal treats such as cinnamon sugar fried dough, berry pie and mulled cider. Beer and wine will also be available for purchase.
